Exporting Quantitative Data

Recollective offers the ability to extract all available quantitative data as it pertains to your Activities. The Quantitative Data Export is accessible via the Transcripts area of the Study Admin menu. The produced file can be used to further analyze response data or import into an alternate quantitative data analysis tool.

This export will include Tasks that are explicitly quantitative in nature like Polls, Grids and Prompts.

Preparing Your Export

Your data export can be customized based on a number of fields. These controls allow you to produce a transcript that contains all individuals and includes all Activities or more focused ones that target specific Activities, participants or Segments.

Activity

This section will allow you to specify whether your quantitative transcript includes data for the entire Study or for specific Activities and / or Tasks. Select the exact Activity and Tasks by using the dropdown menu if you'd prefer to limit the scope of your export.

Output

Recollective produces the Quantitative Data Export in one of two file formats:

  1. Formatted Spreadsheet (Excel): The Excel workbook will separate the content into different worksheets (Tasks, Columns and Responses) that will contain all the reference IDs, source links, descriptions and response data so syntax can be written for import into external data analysis tools
  2. Text-only data export (CSV): The CSV option contains all of the participant response data in a single sheet - no links are embedded and this is a text-only output of the requested data

Response Date Range

This section allows you to determine the date range of the included Activity data. In most cases, you'll typically extract all of the associated data from your Study using the All Time default. However, if you need to drill down on a specific month or response period, you have a custom as well as standardized date options.

Participants

This area controls which participant responses are actually included within your transcript. While most users will create a data export that includes All Participants, you may find yourself downloading filtered data either by Select Participants or even Select Segments if required.

Optional Inclusions

You'll also be able to include extra data within your transcript in the form of  Incompletes. In certain cases, some of your participants may fail to complete all of their assigned Activities and Tasks. Enabling this option will include all participant responses including those classified as incomplete or in draft.

Participant Identities

This series of options will allow you to determine exactly what participant ID information you'd like to include in your transcript. This ranges from including the participant's Full name, to more limited options such as Username only or Unique ID only

Participant privacy is an incredibly important aspect of the platform. For best practices, we highly recommend the use of extraction options that involve limiting the amount of personally identifiable information being downloaded in physical files. There are dedicated controls to Include participant photos and Include participant emails.
