Introduction to AI Themes
AI Themes automates identifying and categorizing key themes, sentiments, and emotions from participant responses and bringing forward significant quotes that support these identified themes. This tool ensures consistent interpretation by eliminating subjective biases and uncovers hidden insights that might be missed through manual analysis. With AI Themes, researchers can focus on interpreting results and making informed decisions rather than getting bogged down in the laborious details of data processing.
Using AI Themes
When AI is enabled, Analysts and Moderators will see an additional tab under the Summary section of their study labeled AI Themes. Once participant responses have been received, Admins will see the AI-detected themes being raised across the entire study by default, along with the higher-level categories they fall under, sentiments, and emotions.
The overview at the top of the page displays the overall metrics for Theme Sentiments, Theme Categories, Themes, and Verbatims.
💡 AI Themes includes data from all task responses in Standard and Journal activities. This includes:
- All text-based responses
- Audio/Video/Screen recording transcripts
- Media captions and annotations
Filtering Data
Admins can filter by Activity, Task, Segment, and any combination of individual theme elements. The filters along the left are displayed as follows:
- Theme Sentiment: A general attitude tied to a participant’s response (Positive/Negative/Neutral).
- Themes: A descriptive topic or characteristic applying to a participant’s response.
- Theme Categories: A group of common Themes.
- Emotions: Specific feeling(s) subjectively tied to a participant’s response.
When one or more filters have been applied, the associated theme elements and Verbatims will update accordingly.
Reviewing Verbatims
Each verbatim card highlights the associated Theme, Theme Category, and Emotion. Admins can sort the list of verbatim items from most recent to oldest or search for keywords to refine the list. Each verbatim can be copied and linked back to its original response in a new tab.
Exporting Theme Data
Users can either export theme data for the entirety of their study or export the filtered data when filters have been applied. The export will be in Excel format, with each row representing an individual verbatim and the corresponding theme data, including:
- Theme
- Theme category
- Sentiment
- Emotion
- Reference to the source
- Participant profile data
