Analysts and Moderators in Recollective can make Tasks within an Activity optional. This allows participants to skip specific Tasks and optionally provide a reason for doing so. Task requirements can be configured prior to launching an Activity or updated while fielding after responses have already been received.
Making an Activity Task optional
To configure a Task as optional within an Activity, follow these steps:
Navigate to the Activity that contains the Task you want to modify.
Hover over the relevant Task card.
Click on the menu arrow on the card, then select Edit.
Disable the Required Task toggle located underneath the Task Name.
(Optional) Enable the Ask for reason if skipped toggle. When this setting is enabled, participants are required to select a reason (such as "Not applicable to me" or "Don't have time") before they can skip the Task and proceed.
Click Save.
Expected outcome: The Task setting updates immediately. Participants will now have the option to skip the Task when completing the Activity.
Modifying Task requirements mid-fielding
Analysts and Moderators can make Tasks optional even after responses have already been collected for that Activity. Adjusting this setting mid-fielding does not prevent past participants from retaining their submitted responses.
