How to Create Smart Segments

During your onboarding process, you may have imported profile data that you would like to use to group or otherwise classify panelists. If so, you may wish to create a Smart Segment. In a Smart segment, panelist are automatically assigned to the segment based on filtering criteria that you define. Analysts can create Smart Segments from within Site Administration. 

To create a Smart Segment, follow these steps:

📍 Go to Site Administration > Panelists > Segments

  1. Click New Segment
  2. Select Smart Segment
  3. Customize the Segment Name
  4. Use the Select an Attribute drop-down menu to choose the criteria that panelists must meet to be included in the Smart Segment    
    1. Optional: You can select Test Filter to preview which panelists will be assigned to your Smart Segment
    2. Optional: under the Advanced Options section, you can limit the segment’s Study Visibility or configure the segment to Add Panelists to Studies or Remove Panelists from Studies.
  5. Click Save. 

Once you have completed these steps, Recollective will automatically add and remove panelists to the segment based on the rules that you defined.

Note: Panelists cannot be manually added to Smart Segments. If the desired panelists are not being assigned to your Smart Segment, consider reviewing your criteria and leveraging the Test Filter button.
