Release Notes: May 4, 2026

These improvements are being progressively rolled out and will be available to all customers soon.

What’s New

Conversation Task: Response-Aware Conversations

The Conversation Task now has full awareness of a participant’s earlier task responses within the same activity. The AI moderator can reference prior answers, avoid repetition, and ask more meaningful follow-up questions, creating a more connected, natural experience for participants and richer insights for researchers.
  • Deeper, Progressively Richer Insights: Conversations build on earlier responses across every task type to clarify, validate, and explore what matters most.
  • More Trustworthy AI Moderation: The AI moderator probes on prior answers to improve consistency, depth, and overall data quality.
  • Natural, Seamless Participant Experience: Conversations flow naturally with no repetition or disconnected prompts, keeping interactions relevant and personal.
  • Effortless Setup: A single checkbox enables full context awareness with no additional configuration required. Piping remains available for researchers who prefer more targeted control

Conversation Task: Task-Level AI Summaries

Task-Level AI Summaries generate concise, narrative-style overviews of participant responses for each Conversation Task within an activity. Rather than manually scanning large volumes of responses, researchers can instantly access a synthesized summary directly within the Response Summary table, making it faster to move from initial review to deeper analysis.
  • Instant Task-Level Insights: Generate concise summaries that highlight key themes, patterns, and highlights across participant responses for an entire task.
  • Embedded Directly in Your Workflow: Summaries appear within the Activity Response Summary table, so researchers can generate insights without leaving the page.
  • Smart Refresh Indicators: When new responses are added after a summary is generated, the platform notifies admins that a refresh may be needed.
  • Accelerated Analysis: Surface what participants are saying at a high level, then go deeper with tools like Ask AI with no manual pre-work required.

New Activity Type: External Content Activity

This feature is currently in Limited Availability. Contact our Support team to learn more.
The External Content Activity is a new activity type that allows researchers to upload and analyze qualitative data captured outside of Recollective. Video and audio recordings from any source, including interviews, focus groups, UX sessions, and more, can now be imported directly into the platform and made ready for AI-powered analysis.
  • One Platform Repository for All Your Research: Whether your recordings come from Zoom, Discuss.io, or any other tool, External Content Activities bring them into the same environment as your in-platform study data. One research library, every source, no workarounds.
  • Pre-Analysis Done Automatically on Upload: Transcription, speaker detection, and language processing all happen automatically on upload. Drag and drop multiple files and Recollective makes them analysis-ready with no manual formatting or third-party tools required.
  • AI and Traditional Analysis Applied to Everything: Your entire video and audio dataset, whether collected on-platform or imported, is searchable, queryable, and analyzable from a single interface. Surface themes, compare data waves over time, and generate reports, all in Recollective.
  • Reduced Manual Workflows and Data Fragmentation: Eliminate the need for third-party transcription tools and disconnected file management, replacing patchwork processes with a centralized, streamlined workflow.

Key Improvements

Live Meetings: Audio Output Selection

We’ve added an audio output selector in Live Meetings, giving users more control over their playback device and ensuring meeting audio is clear and reliable throughout every session.
  • Unified Audio Device Controls: Users can now manage both microphone and speaker output directly from the existing mic control menu, including selecting preferred input and output devices such as speakers, headphones, or Bluetooth headsets.
  • Preference Syncing: Camera, microphone, and speaker preferences are now synced between System Check and Live Meetings, automatically applying previously successful device configurations.
  • Test Speaker Functionality: A new “Test Speaker” option lets users play a sample sound clip to verify their audio output, which is especially helpful on the meeting entry page before live audio is available.

Activity Access: Select Individual Participants

Admins can now grant activity access to specific participants directly, without needing to create a dedicated segment. This gives teams more precise control during setup and reduces unnecessary clutter in participant management.
  • Individual Participant Selection: Choose “Only select participants” in Activity setup and directly select individuals via a participant picker.
  • Clear Selection Management: Selected participants are displayed as chips for easy review, with an Edit button to reopen the picker and add or remove users at any time.
  • Live Activity Safeguards: When removing access after invites have been sent, admins are prompted to confirm the action before participants receive cancellation notifications.

Increased Default Study Language Limit

We’ve increased the default maximum number of study languages from 3 to 5, making it easier for multilingual studies to launch without requiring additional support. Admins can now select up to 5 site-enabled languages during study setup, reducing operational overhead and enabling larger international studies to get underway faster.
