How to Export Study Response Data

Use this guide to export study transcripts, media files, quantitative data, and summary charts in Recollective.

User Permissions and Requirements

In Recollective, Analysts and Moderators can export study response data, participant media, files, and summary charts once a study has ended or while it is actively running.

Exporting Study Transcripts

Analysts and Moderators can export text-based participant response data from Study Activities, Study Discussions, and private messages in Recollective.

  1. Log in to Recollective and select your study.

  2. Go to the Study Admin menu and select Transcripts.

  3. Under Transcript Type, choose the data set you want to export:

    • Activities: Provides all participant response data from Study Activities.

    • Discussions: Provides all participant response data from Study Discussions.

    • Messages: Provides all private messages between participants and Study Admins.

  4. Customize your Transcript Options (such as Output, Format, Group By, etc.) to meet your objectives.

  5. Select Optional Inclusions to include Comments, Ratings, Excerpts, Backroom, and Incompletes.

  6. Select the Response Date Range

  7. Under Participants, choose from All Participants, Select Participants, Advanced Filters, or Select Segments.

  8. Customize how Participant Names are displayed on the transcript.

  9. Select Generate Transcript.

  10. If you choose the HTML Output option, the transcript will open in a new browser window. From this window, use your browser's print function and select Save as PDF to download a PDF copy.

Exporting Photos, Videos, and Files (Media Exports)

In Recollective, Analysts and Moderators can export all collected media files in bulk if a study contains Photo, Video, or File Tasks.

  1. Log in to Recollective and select your study.

  2. Go to the Study Admin menu and select Transcripts.

  3. Select the media type (Photos, Videos, or Files) you wish to export.

  4. Select Generate Archive.

  5. Use the provided download link to save the archive file to your computer.

Troubleshooting Large Media Downloads

Large media exports can be difficult to download and may fail or time out. If the download fails, reduce the date range in your export options to decrease the file size before selecting Generate Archive again.

Exporting Quantitative Data

Analysts and Moderators can export quantitative response data from supported Task types in Excel or CSV format.

  1. Log in to Recollective and select your study.

  2. Go to Study Admin and select Transcripts.

  3. Select Quantitative Data.

  4. Configure the following export options:

    • Activities: Select the Activities and Tasks to include.

    • Output: Choose Excel or CSV.

    • Response Date Range: Select the date range for responses.

    • Participants: Include all participants or select specific participants or Segments.

    • Incompletes: Include responses from incomplete Activities or Tasks.

    • Participant Identities: Select the participant information to include.

  5. Select Export.

  6. Once the file is generated, select Download Transcript to save the file to your computer.

Exporting Charts

Analysts and Moderators can export individual charts separately from the Summary tab in Recollective.

  1. Log in to Recollective and select your study.

  2. Go to Summary and select Charts.

  3. Select the specific chart you want to export.

  4. Select Details > Export.

  5. Choose your desired export format to download the chart.
