How to Remove Personally Identifiable Information for a Single Panelist

Use this article to remove personally identifiable information (PII) for an individual panelist to preserve anonymity or adhere to privacy stipulations such as GDPR.

When PII is removed:

  • Any personal data associated with a panelist’s account is permanently deleted.

  • The panelist's response data across all studies they participated in is preserved and is linked to an anonymous account.

Who can remove Personally Identifiable Information (PII) for a single panelist?

Any Analyst can remove PII for a single panelist from within Site Administration.

Remove PII for a Single Panelist

  1. Go to Site Administration > Panelists > Search Panelists

  2. Locate the desired panelist from the list

  3. Click the dropdown arrow next to their name and select Edit

  4. Click the Options button, then select Remove Personal Data

  5. Select any checkboxes for additional data fields you want to remove. (e.g Media Responses, Photo Responses etc…)

  6. Click Remove Selected Data.

After conducting these steps, personal data removal will be scheduled for the panelist's account. The selected personal data will be permanently deleted within a few hours.

Cancel a Pending PII Removal Request

You can cancel a PII removal request if necessary, provided you act within the required timeframe. Cancellation must be completed within 1 hour of initiating the data removal request.

Cancellation Steps

  1. Go to Site Administration > Panelists

  2. Locate the panelist, click the dropdown arrow next to their name, and select Edit

  3. Click Cancel Removal to cancel the scheduled deletion
